New report on Global Passport Ranking was revealed by the Henley & Partners office on April 13 this year.

It is based on the travel database maintained by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

According to the new international report the most powerful passport is the Japanese one with visa free access to 193 countries, followed by Singapore with 192, South Korea and Germany share the third top place with visa free access to 191 countries.

According to the index, countries that offer residence and citizenship by investment programs did well in the rankings. For example, Malta, which announced the launch of new rules for permanent residency this year, was at number 8; Bulgaria, which revamped its “citizenship for investment” program (BCI) also this year, was at 16 with visa-free entrance to 173 states; Portugal ranked sixth (187 countries).

Cyprus has improved its position in the ranking list from 15 to 13. The holders of Cypriot passport now can travel visa-free to 176 states.
